To help raise money for people in Nepal following the two devastating earthquakes, our teams decided to put one night of tips towards charity. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of all our guests and teams, as we managed to raise over £2,000 for the Kamala Foundation in Nepal and.
Here is a message we received from the charity thanking all our teams for their donations and telling us exactly where our money went…
“Many raindrops make a mighty river”
Thank you for your donation to The Kamala Foundation for Women and Children.
Because of your support and generosity, we have been able to secure immediate food, water and shelter for the 150 women and children in the two children’s homes closest to the epicenter of the earthquake. They are safe. We were fortunate to have funds in Nepal that Zac could access immediately after the devastating earthquake. It was a vital connection to enable Zac to secure immediate supplies.
We are now turning our efforts to the community as a whole especially the area called Sindhupalchowk, north-east of Kathmandu, which was at the epicenter of the earthquake.
Zachary was able to find volunteers consisting of about 8 foreigners and 12 Nepalis. This Kamala Foundation team have now reached 7 villages in four of the worst hit districts in Nepal. We have been providing basic goods like food, tarps, clothes and solar systems. We have been able to provide relief for 900 families and are now putting our financial and human resources into constructing “transitional shelters” to help earthquake affected communities survive through the coming monsoon season and beyond. Shelter is now our number one priority.
Zachary has been buying tin for roofing which costs approximately $25.00 per house. His Transition Housing Project will use supplies in Nepal and labour from the local communities. Once he has the planning finalized we update everyone.
What does your money buy?
-For $1.00 we can buy 1 kilo of rice.
-For $3.00 we can feed, clothe, shelter, educate and provide medical attention for a child for one day. That means for less than $100.00 you can fully support one child for a month. Remember 100% of your donations go to Nepal.
Please visit our Facebook Page for current and up to date information and share this link with your friends and family. For those who are not on Facebook, our website has information on our organization and a link to donate. We will do our best to keep the website current.
Again we are very grateful for each and every donation. We know there are plenty of stories to tell about your donation or how you raised funds, please email us or tell us on Facebook. Zac and the children would love to see pictures and hear your stories.
