Let’s be clear. We are definitely not striving for Michelin stars. We want to serve the best Sunday roast in town, be your favourite place to drink and to be training the next great chef. So we strive to win customer service awards, to feature in things like the Observer Food Monthly Awards, and to have our team recognised as rising stars. In this, we’ve been amazingly successful, winning everything from Best Pub in the UK (Rose & Crown) to seven rising star Acorn Awards and a catering Oscar (Catey in 2012). But we were proudest of all to enter the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For in 2017 at our first attempt. We went straight in at No.45. Now we are No.43 and we’re aiming to move even higher next year. We are challenging ourselves to be Top 10. It’ll take time.
