We’re very proud to have been named once again as a top employer in our industry after winning a Best Places to Work in Hospitality Award 2015 for the fifth year running. In response, we’ve decided to offer longer holidays for people who make us their long-term career, making Peach an even more attractive place to work.
We picked up the national award after the people who work in our Oxfordshire pubs – The Fishes at North Hinksey, The Fleece in Witney and The Thatch and James Figg in Thame – took part in an anonymous survey to find out what makes a best place to work and how well the company is doing.
More than 500 firms across the UK’s hospitality industry, from hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars, took part in the confidential survey organised by The Caterer magazine and people engagement experts Purple Cubed. The aim was to identify the most enlightened employers across the country who do the most to train, motivate and develop their people, based on the views of the people who actually work there.
As well as coming in the top 30 employers of choice, we scored highly in the survey’s top six overall rating, which looked at work / life balance, access to personal development and being part of a team that respects each other, beating the benchmark score of all the companies taking part.
Rewarding long service was one of the specific points to come out of the survey, and as employer that listens to what its people think, we acted swiftly by changing its long service and holiday policy to add a further five days holiday for people who stay with the business.
“This is a 5 year unheard of marathon where we’ve been singled out for looking after our teams better than other pub companies and employers, and achieved something truly amazing,” says Peach co-founder Hamish Stoddart.
“We have shown that Peach is one of the most rewarding places to work, offering industry leading training, a real career path and the chance to share in our success. We have also proved that we always strive to make Peach a better place to work, by taking on board what our people say and giving them what they need.
“The core of our success is that we really do what we say we do. We have a very powerful set of values that everyone is expected to understand and live by. This coupled with honest authentic leadership and investment in personal development highlighted in the survey, mean people are at the centre of our world. They make all the difference to our pubs, and the great things our guests will find there,” he says.
With four busy pubs in Oxfordshire and 13 others across Warwickshire and the Home Counties, there are always opportunities to join Peach and grow with the business. We are currently looking for good people to join our teams and share in our success. To find out where a career with Peach could take you, please go to www.peachpubs.com.
