How are you linked to Peach?
I’m Clara and I have just completed a week’s work experience with Tash and the décor team.
What is your go-to pub food?
I can’t turn down a portion of chips, especially if they are sweet potato; number one guilty pleasure.
What pubs did you visit this week? And what was the best bit about each?
On the second day we went to The Fishes for lunch, not only was the food delicious but the garden was gorgeous, with tables and chairs to eat your lunch in the sun or just have a drink in one of the deckchairs. In case that wasn’t enough there was a tipi, with a fire pit and even more seating.
We then went to The Bear & Ragged Staff where I managed to sneak in on the menu tasting. The food again was amazing and the rooms upstairs were so cosy and stylish; if I stayed any longer I would have definitely moved in.
My third day was spent at Brookmans in which every room was finished to perfection. My favourite feature was the large booths in one of the back rooms, I can just imagine sitting round with the family. I squeezed in another menu tasting, this time a little more festive, I can’t spoil the Christmassy surprise on what it is but trust me, it is definitely worth the wait.
On my final day I visited The Duke of Wellington, where we were getting the garden ready for the summer. It now has arches, fairy lights, sofas and planters. I am bringing the whole family back for lunch outside in the summer.
What was the best bit of the week?
That’s a hard one, it’s between seeing the pubs go from the mood board to the finished product and of course the delicious food.
During my week’s work experience the pubs launched their Summer menus. I loved the Bang Bang Chicken Salad, Cucumber & Peanuts, Sesame Dressing at The Fishes and the Smoked Salmon, Sea Trout & Cod Fishcake, Tomato & Red Onion Salsa, Watercress Salad at The Bear & Ragged Staff.
Describe your week in three words?
Tasty, interesting and fun.
Thanks Clara!
