“There’s only so many diet cokes I can drink” is something I often say when it’s my turn to be the driver. And following my research into soft drinks for our winter drinks list, it seems I’m not alone.
Whether you’re a non-drinker or are the designated driver, historically your options for a drink at the bar have been limited. But how times are changing. And they need to, a recent Office for National Statistics survey found the proportion who drank alcohol at least once a week declined from 64.2% to 56.9% last year. And the latest findings from Mintel’s Alcoholic Drinks Review show that 27% of Brits say they are drinking more low- or no-alcohol drinks compared to a few years ago. This rises to 42% of consumers aged 18-24 and 45% of consumers aged 25-34. A sizeable 61% of us now see getting drunk as “uncool”, declining to 41% of 18-24s and 47% of those aged 25-34.
In general more of us are shunning alcohol than ever before in the quest for better health, sounder sleep, clearer skin or to raise much-needed funds for charity according to The Independent.
In turn soft drinks are now a lifestyle choice and to meet a growing demand for better health, natural ingredients, responsible sourcing and sustainability.
It was time to give our softs a shake up so I was tasked with the mission of sourcing a new range for our fridges:
- Healthier and less sugar
- Unique and interesting flavour range
- Natural ingredients
- Responsible sourcing
- Sustainable
After scouring the internet, researching and reviewing brands who might fit our ‘only serve the good stuff’ value, taste tests and internal feedback sessions meetings, we are delighted to add the following to our Winter Drinks List on Wednesday 31st October.
