Now, let’s get our gobble on and get down to it with some Turkey talk!
Turkey at Christmas is without a doubt one of the strongest traditions of the day. But, it was not always this way. Edward VII was the first to make eating Turkey at Christmas fashionable, however not everyone could afford to dine like a royal and it wasn’t until the 1950s that Turkey at Christmas was attainable for all! If it’s good enough for royalty, then we certainly understand why this bird has made such an impact at this time of year.
All of our Turkey’s are from our butcher Aubrey Allen. Like us, they are only happy with the best! That is why they have sourced their Turkey from Holly farm in Worcestershire where they only breed top-quality rare breed Turkey. Robert Caldecott’s family ran business have reared Turkey’s on their farms for three generations and as a result the bird’s receive great care and attention during their growth. Welfare is never compromised and the Turkey’s spend their time in very large ventilated and naturally lit barns with full and free access to space, light, feed and water and are given only natural food and time to grow, making them very happy Turkeys! It is thanks to this attention to detail that the birds grow to full maturity and are in prime condition for a full flavoured dish this Christmas.
Don’t just take our word for it – come in and enjoy some Turkey with us this December!
