Press for Gin? - Peach Pubs

Press for Gin?

If you could order your favourite product with the single push of a button in your own home – what item would you choose?

It might be hard to believe, but Amazon is well on the way to making this happen in the UK, with it’s Dash Button service. Following its success in the US, they have partnered with Procter & Gamble and Nestlé to allow consumers to order and receive products within a day simply by pressing a button. The idea is that you stick the button near where you store or use the product and when it is pressed the product is ordered. All through the magic of Wi-Fi.

andrexAmazon Prime members can buy Dash Buttons, at £4.99 each, for a variety of household brands including Ariel, Fairy, Kleenex, Olay, Gillette, Rimmel and Nescafé.

Anytime you run out of anything at home, Amazon wants to be there when you want to order more. The day of writing lists might soon be over! However, with all revolutions in technology, not everyone is impressed, branding the buttons ‘mini billboards lurking in your home’ and ‘a bit of free advertising given in exchange for mindless ordering.’

Perhaps inspired by Amazon, Carling has launched a “world first” beer button. Enabling users to select from either Tesco, Asda, Morrisons or Sainsbury’s and at a touch automatically adds Carling beer to their online shopping baskets.

We have heard though, that you can wait up to 48 hours for the Amazon Dash delivery – so we’re not sure it’s quite ready for our pubs just yet! But once it has all been refined (and the buttons are a bit more discreet) – we’re up for pressing for Gin!
