Say hello to Tom... - Peach Pubs

Say hello to Tom…

Meet Tom, the General Manager at The Chequers in Eversley.

What was your first job in the industry?

A glass collector / bar back at Baroosh in Hertford when I was 16.

Why did you get into the hospitality industry?

My mum went for lunch with some friends (at Baroosh) and when she came back she said I should go and work there because I had the same spikey hairstyle as the bartenders. The rest is history!

What have you enjoyed about your first few months with Peach?

From always serving the good stuff, to the training we give to the team. I also love that we are all a family and friends rather than just numbers.

Which of the pubs is your favourite and why?

The Chequers obviously!! I do love The Highfield and The Duke. The Fishes I can also see as an incredible pub in the summer, I also can’t wait to see what the décor team have planned for Boutlers.

What inspires you?

My wife Kat and son Archer, they’re the main reason I push myself to be the best of the best. My team also. When they are firing on all cylinders then it means I have trained them well.

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Energetic, charismatic and chillin’.

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

There’s no I in team…

Name four people you would invite to a dinner party:

Tony Addams, Sir David Attenborough, The Queen and Freddie Mercury.

What is the most exciting thing about your job?

Every day is different. The buzz you get from a busy service is unbeatable. I love spending time with the team and helping to build them into the next generation of pub managers. I also love chatting to guests and hearing their life stories.

And finally, one random fact about you!

I can eat a big mac in 2 bites.
