LONDON. COCKTAIL. WEEK. Yes – sounds amazing doesn’t it!
This year it was bigger than ever, with LCW partnering up with 250 bars across London for the seven-day festival. All you have to do is buy a pass for £10, which gets you a £5 signature cocktail from and of the involved bars – as well as entry to the festival itself in Spitalfield’s.
This year, myself and Sophie (peachy marketers) ventured up to the big smoke to check out what all the fuss was about – we weren’t disappointed!
First stop was the ‘Tia Maria Coffee Project’ – as big fans of the Espresso Martini we were very excited about this!
After some coffee tasting, and experiencing a very poorly made espresso – we now appreciate the importance of brewing – it was down to the serious stuff. We were introduced to an array of coffee based cocktails – a particular favourite has to be the Tia Mint Frappe…it’s just too easy to drink, and a definite possibility for next summers drinks list!
With a little time until our next talk, it was time to wander round the festival stalls and do a bit of research. Clinging on to the summer we just had to try Aperol ice-lollies in a glass of Prosecco…so good!!
Soon enough it was time for our ‘Havana – Tastes & Sounds of Cuba’ talk with Rum expert Dave Broom. There to chat about his new book, which covers over 100 rums of all kinds. The talk was a perfect end to the day as we were taken through the music eras of Cuba – and even treated to an ‘Old Fashioned’ and some of Dave’s best dance moves along the way.
If you haven’t visited LCW yet – you’ve still got a few days left – it’s a perfect way to spend a day in London. But if you don’t get to visit this year – there is always next year!
