Once you’ve finished celebrating your engagement, the planning begins. With a wealth of experience planning and hosting weddings and events, our team are on hand to ensure your day goes as smoothly as possible. We promise superb hospitality, great food, and a room you can really make your own.
The Embankment is the perfect location.
Situated on Bedford’s beautifully-landscaped Embankment, with wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse. Built in 1891 and lovingly renovated to reflect its Victorian heyday, whilst maintaining all the modern comforts and facilities of a great pub and hotel. The atmosphere is relaxed and hospitable. There is no stuffy lobby or residents’ lounge, just a team of friendly faces ready to look after you.
With two different rooms to choose from, no wedding is too big or too small.
From large gatherings up to 150, to intimate receptions of 20, all that’s left to you is sitting back and enjoying your day. Our stunning private dining rooms are perfect for your celebration, with The Blue Room seating 24 comfortably. Swing open the doors for larger parties, seating up to 80, or 150 standing.
We don’t forget children either.
We have a range of specially designed menus including soft drinks and activity packs to keep them entertained, leaving you nothing to worry about. With personalised drinks packages, canapés, and photos by the river (we live in hope of sunny days), the team will create a bespoke package based on just what you need.
We have 20 beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms; from classic doubles to premium kings, twins and family rooms.
Our four premium rooms have spectacular views over the river and with a copper roll top bath, room 102 makes the perfect Honeymoon Suite. There is also a fully wheelchair accessible twin room on the ground floor in an adjoining Victorian cottage. All our rooms have high-quality linen, robes and toiletries, and we offer special rates for wedding guests and exclusive hotel takeovers.
We only serve what we’re happy to eat and drink ourselves.
All our meat is British, of the highest quality from Aubrey Allen, and this eighty year-old Warwickshire butcher supplies many of Britain’s finest restaurants as well as holding HM The Queen’s Royal Warrant. Our steaks are from Britain’s finest (increasingly rare) beef herds, 28 day dry-aged for stupendous flavour. Our chicken is free-range, as are our eggs and pork and our lamb is Cornish. We serve the best of British where possible and we follow the ever-changing advice
on sustainability.
Drinks are chosen by real enthusiasts, and you’ll find a great selection of spirits and softs on our bars and in our fridges. Our wine list is packed with a great range of top-quality and interesting wines, allowing you to choose something for your mood, or food. Our spirits are premium, and our cocktails are well-made.
We’re really proud of being part of the local community, and with that comes a great preferred supplier list supporting our neighbours all of whom we could not recommend highly enough. Not only do they do what they do with style, finesse and professionalism, but they are right on our doorstep which could not be more perfect.
