Ever since the very start when we opened The Rose & Crown, we’ve been striving to be the best in the industry, and over the last 16 years, our awards and accolades have been a huge recognition of what we’ve achieved.
In 2006, The Fishes won Pub Roast of the Year in the Pub Chef Excellence Awards Special Innovation, highlighting the nation’s love for a great Sunday lunch. Head Chef, Rob Hartwell, went on to win an Acorn Scholarship the following year, highlighting his commitment and dedication to the popular Oxfordshire Pub. The Acorn Awards highlight the top 30 under 30 in the industry and is a high accolade for anyone in the industry. In 2012, Rob also won Pub Restaurant Chef of the Year at the 2012 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards, whilst Head Chef at The Rose & Crown in Warwick. Rob, continues to work with Peach – when not using his skills in carpentry.
Corin Earland joined Peach in the very early days, and remains Chef Director to this day. In 2008, he was also awarded an Acorn, whilst in the same year, Peach topped Caterer & Hotelkeeper’s Best Places to work in Hospitality, atitle we continued to hold onto in 2009, as well as winning several other awards including Best Sunday Lunch and Best Bar in The Observer Food Monthly Food Awards, Best Customer Service in Godiva Awards and Multiple Operator of the Year in The Publican Awards. We continued to win multiple Godiva Awards in 2010, including Best Pub at The Rose & Crown and maintaining Best Customer Service at The Almanack. Peach were also Highly Commended as Multiple Operator of the Year in the Publican Awards.
Throughout 2011 and 2012, the awards continued to be won, from our win of Best Employer in the Best Employers in Hospitality Awards and a win for Hamish and Lee in the most prestigious awards in UK hospitality, The Cateys. 2013 saw some local wins for The Black Horse and The Swan in Milton Keynes Food & Leisure Awards and The Elm took Customer Care in Pride of Stratford Awards. We also became a category winner as Best Large Pub / Bar Employer and 25th out of the top 50 employers overall in Best Employers in Hospitality Awards. We held on to Best Employers in Hospitality for a further two years and took The Caterer Best Places to Work in Hospitality. By 2016 we were Best employer in The Springboard Awards for Excellence, Best pub in Oxfordshire in National Pub & Bar Awards and Best gastropub in Birmingham Food and Hospitality Awards. In 2017 we entered in at 45 in The Sunday Times Top 100 Employers earning a Two Star Accreditation, an achievement everyone at Peach becamee very proud of, and Leon Higham and his team took home Britain’s Best Brigade at The Rose & Crown.
This year we proudly moved up to 43 in Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and we’re striving to rise higher next year. Head Chef, James Durrant at The Bear & Ragged Staff also took home another win, becoming Peach’s 8th Acorn Winner.
