The High Field in Edgbaston turns five! - Peach Pubs

The High Field in Edgbaston turns five!

Time really does fly. Gathering the team, we started our training on what it means to give a Peachy service and have a great Gastropub. Little did we know the room we were then training in would one day become The High Field Studio.

 .

It was mid September, we were running behind, but the doors were almost ready to be opened to our first High Field guests. This week, the pub have been celebrating that first week with dishes from the very start. Lobster Shepherd’s Pie, Tomato Tarte Tatin and Merrifield Duck Breast & Duck Cottage Pie – we think a forgotten has been missed though. Anyone for Sea Bass & Bombay Potatoes?

As well as serving quality fresh food in the eatery and a range of drinks in the bar, The High Field has a spacious garden and sunny terrace. From throwing great Gin festivals, to Vegan nights and great New Year’s Eve parties, we’ve had a great five years! And we couldn’t have done it without a great team, and a big thank you to our guests.

We wanted to hear from you about your visits with us over the years.

“My partner and I had one of our very early dates at the High Field – it was one of the first days of your new summer menu last year and the waitress asked for any feedback we had. My partner commented that the fish was “too flaky”… fish, in my, and his (!) opinion should be flaky! I struggled to hold back the giggles then and we have no idea to this day why he said it, his excuse is he was trying to be helpful” – Emma.

“My husband and I are regulars to your pub (so much so, we’ve been down this afternoon)…. we only live round the comer and always have such a warm welcome from Sam and the team!

“See attached photo we took for my birthday last year. Not entirely sure my dog should have been sat on a chair but think it’s a pretty cool photo 😂 we had a great time and love your place” – Dan

Funnily enough we got married two years ago and stayed at the High Field town house which was amazing! I’ve always lived in Edgbaston since I was a child and the High Field is definitely my favourite pub… Food is fabulous, loving the wine and gin choice and just a generally great place to see friends and family in a warm and friendly environment!” – Sarah.

“I’d love to see the herb pancakes back on the menu, I loved them. We have had so many happy memories at the Highfield including Christmas get togethers and Sunday lunches with friends and family . This year we celebrated our wedding anniversary and also invited our 2 gorgeous sons to celebrate with us. Meal was fabulous as always and a lovely afternoon was spent celebrating” – Dianne

“I can’t believe it has been 5 years since The High Field opened. I have enjoyed many a lovely lunches and dinner there with friends and family and would like to share some highlights with you.

In addition to finding it a great place to meet up with old friends (I moved to Gloucestershire from Birmingham in 2008) I have also celebrated some pretty special occasions with you …on Saturday 2 Jan 2016 my some and his new wife visited from Sydney, Australia and we had a private dinner at the High Field.

On Saturday 21 May we celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary with lunch at The High Field.

But perhaps the most special occasion was on Sunday 3 September when we had a small lunch party to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. I am attaching a picture here of two old rugby playing friends that met at The High Field that day for the first time in over 30 years!!!

See pic of Steve Thomas who played rugby for Leicester and Bill Mattocks former Rugby Lions player ‘chew the fat’ at Bill’s birthday lunch.” – Gail.

“Congratulations on 5 years – I remember when you first opened! We came by and had a delicious cheese board, dessert and champagne and have become regulars since then! We’ve celebrated many many occasions there too. Did I mention Mum and I live in California? My Mum grew up in Edgbaston and my Grandad still lives there so we visit him a few times a year!

One of my favourite memories at The Highfield is when we first celebrated my Grandad’s birthday there. He still hadn’t visited you guys and was so excited to finally try it. He’s tough to please but he absolutely loved your fish and chips. He’s now also become a regular – we got him hooked! Another nice memory is this past Christmas, Mum and I wanted to grab a drink so as always we stopped by The Highfield. What we thought would just be one drink, maybe an hour, ended up being an entire evening of drinks and food and fun! The Highfield has the best ambiance, service and quality of food and drink.

We just love it there and wish you many many more years!” – Anu.
